3 hours close to divinity..

When we woke up to a new day, knowing absolutely how sad it is going for Indian Cricket, just a few overs away from being dethroned as the numero uno, we all thought, can it get any worse?
On the contrary, being the auspicious event of Rakshabandhan, the day wouldn't stop getting better and better by the evening.
Having had my parents in Hyderabad, the last year had been no less than a long long party for me, and hence spending days like Rakhi away from home was new to me. But, as they say, "Walking with friends in the dark is better than walking alone in the light." So it was, the experience of Rakhi at IIIT, could never have been so awesome without so many great friends around me. It was the experience I would love to call “Rakshabandhan minus sisters”, and what made me appreciate what Prof. Sangal calls “the IIIT Family” :P

That brings me to the highlight of the evening, the visit to an orphanage in the outskirts of Hyderabad, where we got to spend some real good quality time with those few special kids. We went with the idea of making this festival a memorable one for them as well as us, but I don't think anyone of us would have a doubt if I asked whteher it was us who made their day or the other way round? They made it a life-changing experience for us for sure!!

The organization was genuinely doing a great deal for them, like computer classes, medical facilities, complete school education, and children are extraordinarily talented in skills like singing, dancing, magic tricks ;). They took us to their rooms, their TV room, dining hall and showed us around their “mansion”. We had fun playing cricket, and games we have not played since we were as old as them, more than ten years maybe. This kid Lokesh knows great magic tricks, I bet some of them you may never have seen before!!

Spending merely 3 hours with them made me wonder how happy with life can one be? If they, in spite of everything can be so thankful and full of liveliness, what in the world stops us from living life like they do? Why don't we jump high in the sky, as far as we could,just to let ourselves out of the cocoon? I had one question in my mind on my way back, to know how this had been different from meeting the Almighty himself?
The experience can be rightly summed up as “3 hours close to divinity!!”

P.S. There was much more to the day later that evening, but some parts of the story are best kept secrets :D

When....

जब जब दर्द का बादल छाया,
जब ग्हम का साया लहराया,
जब आंसू पल्कों तक आया,
जब यह दिल घबराया;

थोडी धूप है सबका हिस्सा;
आँख तेरी बेकार ही नम है,
हर पल एक नया मौसम है;
क्युं तु ऐसे पल खोता है,
दिल आखिर तु क्यून रोता है?
